Many questions are coming in about the
Canadian Youth Chess Championships (CYCC)

The CYCC is Canada's National Youth Chess
Championships divided into age groups just like the OYCC and the
WYCC (World Youth Chess Championships)

The CYCC determines Canada's Youth Champions for their
respective age groups
-
The CYCC also chooses the National team that goes to the
WYCC (This year in Turkey)

This year the CYCC will be in Victoria from July 20th - 26th
Here is the information about this year's event:
2009 Canadian Youth Chess Championships:
- Sections U18, U16, U14, U12, U10, U8 Open and Girls. Sections
with less than 8 players will be combined at Tournament Director's
discretion.
- Eligibility: Must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Canadian
resident for at least 12 months. Players with any question about
their own eligibility to compete should contact Ellen Nadeau,
Canadian Youth Chess Coordinator at ellennadeau@yahoo.ca This e-mail

enabled to view it to verify eligibility. Failure to do so and not
meeting the requirements could result in withdrawal from the
tournament and/or ineligibility for awards.
- Tours and other events before and after the CYCC are in the
planning stages and will run from July 20-26th.
- Book your summer vacation now! July 21-24, 2009. Enjoy a week on
an island in the Pacific. Other events in the planning stages. We
hope to see you in Victoria.
